The number of registered unemployed in Cyprus fell to 7,378 in May, a 9.6% drop compared to the same month last year, according to figures released Wednesday by the Statistical Service.
Seasonally adjusted data, which reflect underlying labor market trends, show a slight month-to-month decline in unemployment, with 9,708 people registered in May compared to 9,729 in April.
The annual decrease amounts to 781 fewer people on the unemployment rolls compared to May 2024.
The Statistical Service attributed the decline mainly to reductions in several sectors, including financial and insurance activities (down to 405 from 574), construction (426 from 555), education (263 from 373), and manufacturing (458 from 537).
The largest decrease was among new entrants to the labor market, which fell to 297 in May 2025 from 509 a year earlier.
