Set among the vineyards of Kato Drys, in the Larnaca district, Christoudia Winery offers visitors an opportunity to discover Cypriot winemaking through guided tours, tastings and traditional local cuisine.
Established in 1992 by Yiannis and Alexia Christoudia, the family winery began with a shared passion for wine and a decision to cultivate their inherited vineyards and produce their own. Despite having limited experience in oenology at the time, the couple built their business around a commitment to local grape varieties and the traditions of Cypriot viticulture.
Today, the winery processes more than 200 tonnes of grapes and has the capacity to bottle up to 1,000 bottles per hour. Its production also includes wines aged in oak barrels, while particular attention is given to indigenous Cypriot varieties.
Visitors can explore the estate through a guided tour that introduces the history and production of wine in Cyprus. The experience begins in a small museum displaying traditional products before continuing with an explanation of the winemaking process. Guests also visit the workshop where traditional sioujoukos, made from grape must, and honey are produced, before finishing in the wine cellar.
Wine tasting is a central part of the visit, with nine different wines and zivania available to sample. The selection includes indigenous varieties such as Spourtiko, Maratheftiko and Xynisteri, offering an introduction to the character and diversity of Cypriot wines.
For those wishing to enjoy a meal alongside their tasting, Christoudia Winery also offers a traditional Cypriot boukouma. Served as a set menu, it includes a selection of local products, salad dressed with epshima (grape molasses), a Cypriot-style shakshuka prepared with sausage and egg, and pancakes.
Surrounded by the family's vineyards, the estate offers a setting for visitors looking to combine a countryside excursion with food, wine and local traditions. Its facilities can also accommodate private dinners and corporate events.
Through its investment in local vineyards and indigenous grape varieties, the Christoudia family continues to promote Cyprus's winemaking heritage while welcoming visitors to experience the process from grape harvest to the finished bottle.
