Cypriot artist Penelope Constantinou brings her ''Muses'' to Paris

Showcasing at one of Europe’s most prestigious art salons, Constantinou continues to make her mark on the international art scene, representing Cyprus with pride.

Newsroom

Renowned Cypriot artist Penelope Constantinou is once again taking her art to the international stage. This February, her latest series, "The Muses Create a New Glowing World," will be showcased at Art Capital 2025—one of Europe’s most prestigious art exhibitions—held at the Grand Palais in Paris from February 19-22.

This marks the third time Constantinou has exhibited in Paris, solidifying her presence in the European art scene. Speaking about her participation, she shared, "I am very proud that my Muses will travel to Paris and will be presented at Art Capital, conveying to everyone the wish for a New Shining World."

A Historic Exhibition

Art Capital is held under the patronage of French President Emmanuel Macron and attracts around 40,000 visitors annually. Since 2006, it has united four of Paris’s most historic salons: Salon des Artistes Indépendants, Salon Comparaisons, Salon des Artistes Français, and Salon Dessin Peinture à l’Eau. Constantinou will present her work at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants, a prestigious space that has hosted pioneering artists since 1884—including Impressionists, Fauves, and Cubists.

A Journey Through the International Art Scene

Constantinou’s artistic journey has taken her across the globe, with exhibitions in France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, and the USA. She has also received prestigious awards, including the Leonardo da Vinci Prize in Florence and the Andrea Mantegna Prize in Mantua.

Her first Paris exhibition was in 2017 at the Carrousel du Louvre, where she was introduced to the Société des Artistes Indépendants, which has since invited her to participate in Art Capital and other major international exhibitions. Over the years, she has presented thought-provoking works—such as her piece depicting an ancient Cypriot statue crowned with surreal figures, symbolizing the continuity of history and culture.

Art with a Purpose

A graduate of the Florence School of Fine Arts, Constantinou believes in the power of art to inspire change. Her works, spanning multiple series, explore themes of freedom, spirituality, and the human experience. Through her art, she aims to elevate the viewer’s spirit and consciousness, aspiring to create what she calls a "New Shining World"—a world that truly does justice to humanity.

Where to Find Her Work

Constantinou currently runs Penelope Art Gallery in Nicosia, Cyprus, where she has been based since 2015. Her paintings can be found in collections worldwide, and she continues to gain international recognition for her unique artistic vision and dedication to cultural heritage.

As her Muses take center stage in Paris once again, Constantinou continues to leave her mark on the global art scene, representing Cyprus with pride.
