Cyprus recently participated in the prestigious “Best Sommelier of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East” competition, held in Belgrade, Serbia. Representing Cyprus was award-winning sommelier Iwona Hereda, dispatched by the Cyprus Sommelier Association. Hereda, who was named Cyprus's Best Young Sommelier for 2023, joined competitors from across the region to showcase her expertise.
Despite a strong performance, Hereda did not advance to the semifinals, held on Tuesday evening. However, her participation marks a proud achievement for Cyprus, with warm congratulations extended to her for her remarkable effort.
The event continues today, with behind-closed-doors challenges for remaining contestants, alongside masterclasses open to attendees. The competition will culminate in the final round on November 15 at 2:00 p.m., with the announcement of finalists and a live-streamed finale available on the competition’s official YouTube channel.
