A festival dedicated to halloumi cheese will take place on May 3 in the village of Prastio Avdimou, offering visitors a full day of food, culture and local traditions.
Scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., the Halloumi Festival will focus on one of Cyprus’ most recognisable products. Organisers describe the event as an opportunity for visitors to experience village life and traditional practices connected to cheese-making.
More than 30 exhibitors are expected to take part, presenting local products and regional flavours. Live workshops will give attendees the chance to watch how halloumi is produced, following methods that have been passed down over generations.
Food tastings will be available throughout the day, alongside music and cultural activities reflecting Cypriot traditions. The event is aimed at those interested in local cuisine, wine and rural tourism, as well as visitors looking for experiences beyond coastal destinations.
The festival takes place in the Troodos Mountains region, known for its villages, landscapes and agricultural heritage. Organisers say the event offers a chance to connect with local producers and explore the cultural identity of the area.
