The Indian Film Festival Week 2025 is set to take place from March 5 to March 9 at ARTos House in Nicosia, offering a unique opportunity for Cypriot audiences to experience the depth and creativity of Indian cinema.
Organized by the High Commission of India in Nicosia, the festival will feature five carefully selected Indian films that have received positive critical reviews. Each film, according to the organizers, “reflects the artistic quality and dynamism of India’s film industry,” offering a diverse range of stories and genres for viewers to enjoy.
The goal of the festival is to foster cultural exchange and deepen the Cypriot public’s appreciation for Indian storytelling. To make the event accessible to all, all films will be screened with English subtitles.
The festival will kick off on March 5 at 7:00 PM with a screening of Mhorkya, a touching coming-of-age drama about a 14-year-old boy who dreams of leading his school’s parade while overcoming various challenges along the way.
On March 6, also at 7:00 PM, the festival will present Eight Down Toofan Mail, a gripping mystery-drama based on true events. The film follows the remarkable claim of a woman who believes she is a lost princess, sparking an intense investigation.
On March 7 at 7:00 PM, Hellaro will be shown, highlighting the struggles of women in a patriarchal society, set against the vibrant backdrop of the traditional Garba dance from Gujarat.
On March 8, at 6:00 PM, Good Bye will take the stage. This sharp family drama delves into themes of love, loss, and reconciliation, featuring an ensemble cast of well-known Indian actors.
The festival will conclude on March 9 at 6:00 PM with a screening of Rakshabandhan, a heartfelt film celebrating the bond between siblings, emphasizing the responsibilities and sacrifices that come with family ties.
The closing ceremony on March 9 will gather distinguished guests and officials, celebrating the success of the festival and the power of cinema in uniting cultures.
All screenings are free to attend, making it an inclusive event for the public to enjoy.
