The digital Read Library is set to make its inaugural appearance at the Nicosia Book Festival this year. Offering a host of engaging activities, Read Library is eager to captivate both young and seasoned book enthusiasts at the festival venue located in Acropolis Park.
The festival, scheduled for October 7th and 8th, promises an array of literary experiences that cater to diverse tastes and age groups. From interactive storytelling sessions to meet-and-greets with renowned authors, the Read Library has a compelling lineup of events.
Saturday, October 7th
Kicking off on Saturday, October 7th, at 11:00 AM, attendees can immerse themselves in a musical-motor play and interactive storytelling session. The featured book, "The Little Village of Nostimoulis," is the creation of nutritionist Ioanna Masoura. This engaging event will take place within the Read Library premises.
Following this, at 12:00 PM, readers and enthusiasts can connect with Georgia Kyriakou, a prolific author of children's books, during a meet-and-greet session.
The day continues with a captivating children's activity titled "Playing with letters, guessing words, putting imagination and making an e-book." This imaginative session, starting at 5:00 PM, will feature esteemed guests, including Kapandreou Andreas (Author/Librarian), Panaou Petros (Writer/Professor of Children's Literature at the University of Georgia), Pericleous Elena (President of KSPNB/Coordinator of Cultural Education at the Ministry of Culture/Educator/Author), and Petrou Theodora (President of KEBEP/Librarian).
Concluding the day's festivities at 6:00 PM is a storytelling session for children, "Myths and Truths about Companion Animals," presented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment. The tale's creators, Marina Michailidou Kadi and Harry Nikolaou, will bring their story to life within the Read Library area.
Sunday, October 8th
The literary celebration continues on Sunday, October 8th, starting at 11:00 AM with an interactive presentation of the children's book "Deon the Accordion" by its author, Cleopatra Charalambous.
At 12:00 PM, visitors can engage in a meaningful conversation with the accomplished communicator and author, Lakis Argyrou.
The day's highlight arrives at 3:00 PM with a thought-provoking discussion titled "The Book in Eternity." Esteemed participants, including Kapandreou Andreas (Author/Librarian), Panaou Petros (Author/Professor of Children's Literature at the University of Georgia), Pericleous Elena (President of KSPNB/Coordinator of Cultural Education at the Ministry of Culture/Educator/Author), and Petrou Theodora (President of KEBEP/Librarian), will explore the enduring impact of literature. The discussion will be skillfully moderated by Androniki Lassithiotaki, Curator of the Read digital Library and Member of the Board of Directors of KSSNB, on the Literary Scene.
Finally, at 5:00 PM, festival-goers will have the privilege of meeting the accomplished author Yola Damianou Papadopoulou in the Read Library space.
