A weak low pressure system is influencing weather patterns across Cyprus, resulting in fluctuating conditions over the next few days. Initially, today's forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies in some areas, with isolated showers and the potential for isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the eastern region of the island. As the day progresses, these weather phenomena are expected to diminish, shifting southeastward, leading to transient increased cloud cover across most areas.
During the midday hours and beyond, cloud development will lead to isolated showers and possible isolated thunderstorms, primarily concentrated in the mountainous regions but also affecting areas in the South, East, and interior. Winds are anticipated to shift from southwest to northwest, initially ranging from weak to moderate speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort, gradually intensifying to moderate to strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort. While the sea may experience some turbulence, particularly in the East, overall conditions are expected to remain relatively calm along the coast, with temperatures reaching approximately 27 degrees Celsius inland, around 24 degrees Celsius along the coast, and 14 degrees Celsius in higher elevations.
Heading into the evening hours, the weather is forecasted to become mostly clear, with localized low clouds possible along the coast. Winds will continue to shift, initially blowing from southwest to northwest at weak to moderate speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort, eventually transitioning to katabatic winds at a weak intensity of 3 Beaufort. Sea conditions are expected to remain slightly turbulent in the East and along the coast. Temperature-wise, expect a decrease to around 14 degrees Celsius inland, approximately 16 degrees Celsius along the coast, and 8 degrees Celsius in higher elevations.
Looking ahead to Tuesday and Wednesday, intermittent cloud cover is anticipated, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible during the midday hours and beyond, particularly affecting mountainous areas as well as regions in the South, East, and interior.
By Thursday, clearer skies are expected, marking a shift towards more stable weather patterns. Temperature trends indicate a gradual, slight increase, bringing conditions closer to seasonal averages by Thursday.
