Press Release
The Contemporary Children's Shadow Theater concludes the series of events Moments at the Museum'25, organized by the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation, with the shadow theater performance - workshop for families "Shadows of Cypriot Memory: The Figure That Remembers" on Sunday, November 2, at 11:00 a.m.
Children will watch a shadow theater performance to draw inspiration from it. The central character of our story, Grandpa Andreas, opens an old suitcase that has been forgotten in the attic in front of his grandchildren. Among the precious mementos, tradition unfolds through the joy of music, shared experiences, and love for Cypriot roots. Folk music, songs, and theatrical narration connect the past with the present, highlighting our cultural identity.
A journey of colors and music, all captured through handmade shadow theater figures.
Participants will then learn about the history of shadow theater and its characters and, with step-by-step guidance, will learn how to make theater figures using simple materials. (Specifically, the figure of Grandpa Andreas, the central character of the story). Finally, they will have the opportunity to bring their figures to life through lighting and movement on the shadow theater screen.
