Newsroom

Early on Wednesday morning, a group of undocumented immigrants arrived in the coastal area of Paphos.

According to a spokesperson from the Police Headquarters' Communication Office, a smuggler transported 14 undocumented immigrants on a speedboat from the Turkish shores. The group was then dropped off on the coast in the Pafos region.

The police found the 14 individuals, consisting of 13 men and one 14-year-old teenager, on the main road between Pafos and Chrysochou at around 2:30 AM.

The Police reported that each person allegedly paid $3,500 to the Turkish smuggler for their transportation to Cyprus. They departed from a port near Mersin at 10 PM on Tuesday and arrived on the shores of Pafos about an hour and a half past midnight.

The 14 immigrants were later taken to the Chrysochou Police Station to give their statements, and they will be transferred to the temporary accommodation center called "Pournara" later on.
