181 coronavirus cases detected in Cyprus

181 new coronavirus cases were detected on Tuesday after a total of 3,589 tests, raising the number of cases identified in the Republic of Cyprus since the outbreak of the virus in March to 3,817.

The majority, 113 cases, were detected among the 1,813 samples collected from people who took the initiative to get tested.

48 involved contacts of other known cases, while eight were detected among samples collected at general hospitals.

Another five involved arrivals tested at Cyprus airports, while seven involved people who were either part of special health groups or who were referred for testing by their GP.

Currently, the Famagusta general hospital is treating 24 coronavirus patients, four of which are in the ICU. Three more are intubated at the Nicosia general hospital ICU, while four more are receiving treatment at a coronavirus ward.
