A 21-year-old man has died after getting into difficulty in the sea near Limassol’s Old Port on Monday afternoon.
The man, who was from Afghanistan, had reportedly entered the water from a jetty in the area. He was later pulled from the sea unconscious.
An ambulance took him to Limassol General Hospital, where doctors on duty confirmed that he had died.
Police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The precise cause of death will be established through a post-mortem examination.
