Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is visiting Cyprus for talks on Gaza, regional developments and the island’s role in getting humanitarian supplies to people in need.
The working visit, scheduled for Oct. 29-30, includes a Thursday morning meeting with President Nikos Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace, followed by a working lunch, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said.
A key item on the agenda is Cyprus’ humanitarian role, including the Amalthea sea corridor for delivering aid to Gaza. The talks will provide an opportunity to discuss that effort alongside the wider situation in the region.
For Cyprus, the meeting brings a nearby humanitarian crisis to the center of its diplomatic agenda, with discussions covering both its own relationship with the Palestinians and relations between the European Union and Palestine.
The two presidents will also discuss developments in the Cyprus problem.
This is their third meeting since Christodoulides was elected president. Their previous meeting took place in Palestine in May 2025.
Letymbiotis said the visit reflects longstanding ties between Cyprus and Palestine, extending beyond politics to cooperation between their peoples.
The advance statement outlined the subjects for discussion but did not announce any new aid commitments or agreements.
