Elderly woman stuck in hospital for 10 months dies, another pedestrian struck hours later

An elderly woman in Nicosia, who was being treated in hospital for 10 months following a traffic accident, has succumbed to her injuries.

According to local reports, 72-year-old Nicosia Niki Theodoulou from Nicosia was attempting to cross the street on Athalassas avenue in the capital on 16 March 2018.

An oncoming vehicle driven by a 47-year-old female, also a Nicosia resident, struck Theodoulou under circumstances that are reportedly still pending investigation.

The senior citizen was admitted to Nicosia General Hospital where she spent the next ten months undergoing treatment. She passed away Monday afternoon.

Limassol accident

In the meantime, another serious accident took place in Limassol Tuesday morning, where another pedestrian was struck on Agiou Athanasiou avenue.

An ambulance was rushed to the scene while police are investigating the incident.
