The French police arrested a man who threatened to blow himself up at the Iranian consulate in Paris. Initial reports from French media indicate that he did not have explosives on him.

Friday afternoon saw an alarm in the French capital following a report of a man invading the Iranian consulate, threatening to detonate himself.

According to Le Parisien newspaper, a witness reported that the man entered the Iranian consulate around 11 a.m. He then allegedly removed his coat, revealing a "bomb or an explosive vest," AFP learned from the police headquarters.

Several witnesses stated that the man placed flags on the consulate's floor and expressed a desire to avenge his brother's death.

Heavy police forces were deployed in the area, urging citizens to avoid the vicinity.

The operation of a nearby metro line was suspended for safety reasons, as confirmed by the RATP metro operator.
