The British Army has deployed its cutting-edge Stormer air defense systems to Cyprus, bringing advanced missile technology to strengthen security in the Eastern Mediterranean, the UK Ministry of Defense announced.
The move comes as British troops operating in high-risk areas reported a record night of defensive action, taking down 14 kamikaze drones, the highest number in a single night, according to the ministry.
Royal Air Force Typhoon and F-35 fighter jets also carried out defensive missions overnight, covering airspace over Cyprus, Jordan, and Qatar, the ministry said.
“Force protection measures in the region remain at the highest level, ensuring that UK personnel are as safe as possible,” the statement added, noting close coordination with allies in the region.
The deployment underscores the UK’s commitment to maintaining a strong defensive posture in the Eastern Mediterranean amid rising regional tensions, while also showcasing the latest air defense capabilities in action.
