British comedian Eddie Izzard is running 28 marathons around European capital cities in a month, in a bid to promote unity and shared humanity across the continent.
Izzard, a social activist and comic who won numerous awards, visited divided Nicosia earlier this month while on a marathon run through cities in Europe hoping to raise money for charity and spread a message of unity in the world.
In a live video on Twitter last week, Izzard said he was running through the streets of Nicosia “to make humanity great again.”
“In our country and our world there has been far too much talk of division. We can change this by talking of unity,” Izzard said in a statement.
