Today marks the official start of the Limassol Carnival 2024, with the Municipality of Limassol promising an impressive 11-day celebration filled with music, dance, and of course, many masked revelers.

The carnival festivities, organized by the Limassol Municipality, commence at 11:00 with a lively parade featuring music and treats in front of the Hellenic Bank (Gladstone Street) and the Bank of Cyprus (St. Andrew's Street opposite the Church of Agia Napa).

At 13:30, the "Cantadores of Limassol" group will perform at Saripolou Square, followed by a DJ program until 17:00. At 18:00, the Limassol Municipality, in collaboration with the Self-taught Painters' Association of Limassol, will host a painting exhibition themed "Carnival 2024" at the Municipal Hall, featuring participation from the children's and mixed choir of the Municipality of Kato Polemidia.

Simultaneously, at Grigori Afxentiou Square (Governor's Office), the percussion group "Batukinio" will make an appearance followed by the band "The Latin Way of Pop," presenting songs and dances inspired by Latin America.

At 19:00, the Mayor and the Municipal Council, along with the carnival royal family, the Limassol Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra, the majorettes of the Cyprus Guides Corps, and the Limassol majorettes, will lead a procession from the Pattichion Municipal Theatre to Grigori Afxentiou Square. The procession will be preceded by the choir "Modern Times," the Cantadores Ariones, and the Cantadores Giorgalletos.

Limassol will welcome its new carnival queen, Christiana Charalambous, "The Jewel of the Mediterranean," at 19:30 at Grigori Afxentiou Square, where she will arrive on her float accompanied by her entourage.

Following the crowning of the new queen at Grigori Afxentiou Square, a carnival party featuring music and dance by the renowned Greek singer Paschalis will take place. Paschalis will perform songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and today, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere for all attendees.
