The Ministry of Health has announced that from January 17, 2022, those who have completed the mandatory 10-day quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 will be automatically released without the intervention of their GP.
However, people who test positive for the virus should continue to inform their GP about their condition so that their health can be monitored and their sick leave recorded where necessary.
In cases where the GP considers that quarantine should continue due to persistent symptoms (fever and non-improvement of the remaining symptoms two days before release) or in the case of immunosuppressed patients, the period of quarantine may be extended.
The move is meant to reduce backlog and delays in issuing the Covid recovery certificate. Previously, a GP would have to authorize the person's release by informing the Ministry of Health, who in turn would send out the SMS confirming the end of the quarantine period.
Now that the system has become automated, citizens will be informed through an SMS sent to their mobiles the night before their release date.
GP's have been informed about the above procedure through OAY and PIS.
The Ministry of Health is reminding all citizens who test positive for covid to fill in their details on the online platform, regardless of whether or not they have to declare close contacts. This procedure is required for the person's automated release after the 10-day quarantine period.
