Police are investigating after a charred body was discovered inside a vehicle that caught fire on a dirt road in the Famagusta district village of Avgorou on Saturday morning.
Authorities said they received a report at around 10am about a vehicle on fire in the area. Officers from the Famagusta Police Division and members of the Fire Service were sent to the scene, where the blaze was extinguished.
After the fire was brought under control, a charred body was found inside the vehicle.
A forensic pathologist is expected to examine the scene as part of the investigation. Police are working to identify the deceased and determine how the fire started.
No further details have been released, and inquiries are continuing into the circumstances surrounding the case.
