Former President Nicos Anastasiades has criticized current President Nicos Christodoulides for taking credit for projects initiated by the previous administration. In an interview with Kathimerini on Sunday, Anastasiades claimed many of Christodoulides’ policies are built on decisions made during his own tenure.
"I believe that in many areas, the current policies are based on decisions and strategies formulated during my administration. This includes significant decisions on the economy, foreign policy orientation, the welfare state, and various reforms that have been implemented. Therefore, in these areas, he is on the right path," Anastasiades said when asked to evaluate Christodoulides' governance.
However, Anastasiades noted that daily issues require greater presidential involvement, emphasizing that decisions should prioritize social benefits over political costs.
Anastasiades also accused Christodoulides of arrogance, stating, "Another point is the recognition of the work of your predecessors, rather than arrogantly claiming that projects or decisions are happening 'for the first time,' especially when they are based on decisions from the previous government, of which he was a member."
