Inland areas expected to fall to 7°C as a cold front moves across the island.

Newsroom

A significant cold front is moving in tonight, bringing the lowest temperatures recorded so far this winter. Meteorological officials warn of a noticeable chill across the island, with wintry weather affecting higher elevations.

Forecast data indicate that inland areas will see temperatures fall to about 7°C by nightfall, while mountainous regions are likely to experience snowfall. Coastal zones will remain milder but still cooler than recent days.

During the night, skies will be partly cloudy, with the chance of scattered, light rain showers. At the highest points of the Troodos range, precipitation may turn to snow or sleet. Winds are expected to shift between northwesterly and northeasterly directions—generally light to moderate inland (around 3–4 on the Beaufort scale) but stronger along the coast, reaching 4–5 Beaufort. Sea conditions will range from slightly rough to rough.

Minimum temperatures are forecast to drop to around 10°C near the coast and close to 2°C in mountainous areas, where frost is likely to form locally.
