Coronavirus death toll rises to 13, confirmed cases to 790

Nine men and four women of an average age of 70 have so far succumbed to the virus

The coronavirus death toll rose to 13 while cases reached 790 in the Republic on Wednesday after six more people tested positive for the virus from a total of 1,441 conducted tests.

Wednesday’s coronavirus fatality involves a 78-year-old man with underlying health conditions, but whose death was fully attributed to his COVID-19 infection.

Nine men and four women of an average age of 70 have so far succumbed to the virus.

The six new cases announced during the Health Ministry’s daily briefing involve three contacts of other known cases, one member of staff of a General Hospital Microbiology Lab, one person who got tested for the virus at a private lab, and one member of staff of the State Health Services Organization.

A total of 11,318 tests have been conducted from the planned 20,000 on employees still coming into contact with the public.
