A comprehensive proposal on the first phase of the island’s coronavirus lockdown exit strategy is expected to be tabled before the Cyprus President next Tuesday.
The proposal will include measures for the resumption of the economy and for the loosening of movement restrictions.
Government spokesman Panayiotis Sentonas said Wednesday that the proposal will be up for approval by the Cabinet next Wednesday, April 29.
Sentonas said that decisions have yet to be taken on when the first phase of Cyprus’ exit strategy will be launched, as well as on which sectors of the economy will be allowed to kickstart first.
Various scenarios on the island's way out from its current lockdown situation have been making the rounds in recent days, though Wednesday saw official statements by the Health Minister, who said that the government plans to implement a gradual loosening of restriction measures on a bi-weekly basis, so that the consequences of the lifting of restrictions can be fully evaluated.
