Aristotelis Valaoritis, a 64-year-old Cypriot glass dancer, reclaimed his Guinness World Record by balancing 511 wine glasses on his head, surpassing his previous record of 319.
A professional performer since 1995, Valaoritis combines traditional dance with daring head-balancing feats, often appearing at cultural events and restaurants. After losing the title in 2023, he attempted to reclaim it on July 25.
The record involved stacking glasses, each weighing about 123 grams, totaling roughly 139 pounds. Family and friends arranged the glasses on plywood sheets and a styrofoam base before lifting the stack onto his head with a forklift. Valaoritis then balanced the full weight for 15 seconds without dropping a single glass.
“I took on this record challenge to show that I still have the ability and passion for what I do,” he said. “With dedication and training, I was able to accomplish exactly what I set out to achieve.”
