Kalia Antoniou sets record for Cypriot swimming with 18th place

Natasa Lappa ranks 21st after the completion of the second day of the sailing races in the category IQFOIL of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Although Lappa started Tuesday’s races ideally with a 7th place in the first race, she did not continue with similar performance during the next 4 races and as a result she concluded the day in 21st place, two places above the opening day. Natasa has 97 points, one point away from the 20th place and 12 from 18th.

On Tuesday, two Cypriot swimmers completed their effort in the Olympic Games at the sport of 100m freestyle.

Kalia Antoniou achieved the 6th place at the 2nd qualifying series at 54.75. In the general rankings Kalia was 18th among 29 swimmers and as result she did not manage to be at the top 16 and qualify at the quarterfinal round of her sport.

However, this was the best position that a Cypriot swimmer ever achieved in the Olympic Games.

Her brother, Nicolas Antoniou finished at the 43rd place among 79 swimmers, of the Men 100m. freestyle in Paris 2024. Nicolas finished at the 1st place in the 4th qualifying series with a time of 50.35. However, this time was not enough to give him a spot at the quarterfinal round.
