The Armed Forces of the Republic of Cyprus and the State of Israel will conduct scheduled military exercise “Onisilos-Gedeon 1/2018” from Monday until Wednesday.
Military exercises take place in the framework of the annual cooperation plan between the two armed forces, the Ministry of Defence announced.
The exercise takes place within Nicosia FIR and in large part of the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, with the participation of National Guard personnel and various equipment. Various types of Israeli Airforce aircraft will also join the drill.
Cyprus and Israel have upgraded their military cooperation with one eye on making the East Med a secure environment for energy exploration.
