Cyprus Foreign Minister Nikos Christodoulides and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu discussed on Thursday regional developments and the strengthening of bilateral ties in energy and emergency situations, a press release issued by Netanyahu`s office said.
The meeting took place at Netanyaju`s office in Jerusalem and was held, according to the press release, ahead of the fourth trilateral meeting between the leaders of Israel, Greece and Cyprus, which is due to be held in Cyprus in the coming months. Prime Minister Netanyahu congratulated Foreign Minister Christodoulides on taking office, the press release added.
Meanwhile the Israeli Foreign Ministry said in a post on twitter that "we respect the rights of Cyprus in its various maritime zones and believe that the signing of our bilateral agreement with Cyprus on the delimitation of the EEZ already in the year 2010 speaks for itself."
