Cyprus unemployment drop for the month of May was the largest recorded in the EU

Cyprus recorded the largest unemployment drop in the European Union for May 2018, dropping to 8.4% from 8.6% the previous month.
Last month, there were 36,000 fewer unemployed people in Cyprus, down from 11.4% in May 2017, according to Eurostat, the statistical service of the EU.
This was the largest annual decrease followed by Croatia, Greece, and Portugal.
Among the Member States, the lowest unemployment rates in May 2018 were recorded in the Czech Republic (2.3%) and Germany (3.4%), while unemployment rates were highest in Greece (20.1% in March 2018) and Spain (15.8%).
Overall, the unemployment rate fell in all Member States compared to one year ago.
