EAC worker falls to his death in Larnaca

Base of boom lift becomes detached several metres metres above ground sending EAC employee to his death

An EAC worker in Larnaca was killed Monday morning in a boom lift accident, when the man fell to his death from several metres high.

According to media reports, the man who was working for the Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC), was inside a boom lift around 9am near the town's K-Cineplex, when the base became detached causing him to fall to the ground.

Reports said the boom lift was as high as seven metres above the ground at the time of the accident.

The worker was rushed to the Emergency Room at Larnaca General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

Reports said the victim was 42 years old and a father of three children. 

Police are investigating the accident.
