Cyprus is taking part in international discussions on Gaza, with Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kompos traveling to Washington on Wednesday to attend a meeting of the Gaza Peace Council on Thursday. The island nation has been invited as an observer.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, the talks will focus on moving forward with the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Agreement and the plan put forward by former U.S. President Donald Trump, which the United Nations Security Council backed through Resolution 2803.
Cyprus’s involvement highlights its ongoing engagement in the region since the crisis began, officials said, citing the country’s proposals, initiatives, and broader contributions aimed at strengthening security and stability in the Middle East.
Observers say Cyprus’s participation, even in an observer role, reflects its growing presence in regional diplomacy and its commitment to supporting peaceful solutions in conflict zones.
