The Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection has introduced a new pilot initiative, “Visitor – Program Participation,” aimed at third-country nationals seeking to study in Cyprus. The program targets individuals enrolling in courses lasting longer than four months at institutions approved by either the Deputy Ministry of Shipping or the Department of Civil Aviation, excluding higher education establishments.
This initiative is designed to provide a pathway for those who do not meet the standard criteria for a student visa, offering a temporary residence permit specifically for educational purposes.
In its first year, the program will issue up to 200 permits, split equally between the two approving authorities. Applications will be processed in the order they are received, emphasizing a first-come, first-served approach.
Applicants can submit their requests at the Central Offices of the Department of Immigration in Nicosia. The fee for issuing or renewing a temporary residence permit is €70, with an additional €70 required for initial registration in the Aliens Registry.
Further details and application guidelines are available on the Department of Immigration’s official website.
