Cyprus leads medal count at Games of Small States of Europe with 85 total

Cypriot athletes look to maintain top spot on final day of competition in Andorra.

Cyprus remains at the top of the medal table following the fourth and penultimate day of the 20th Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE), currently underway in Andorra.

As of Thursday, Cyprus has secured a total of 85 medals, including 26 gold, 23 silver, and 36 bronze.

Medal breakdown from the penultimate day:

Swimming (4 medals):

  • Gold medal: Kalia Antoniou in the 50m butterfly

  • Gold medal: Kalia Antoniou in the 50m backstroke

  • Silver medal: Nikola Kolev in the 400m individual medley

  • Bronze medal: Maria Erokina in the 50m breaststroke

Rhythmic gymnastics (2 medals):

  • Gold medal: Women’s Group event (Maria Avgousti, Nika Kontareva, Mikaela Eleftheriou)

  • Gold medal: Maria Avgousti in the Individual All-Around

Table tennis (2 medals):

  • Bronze medal: Men’s Team event (Siarpel Elias, Marios Yiangou)

  • Bronze medal: Women’s Team event (Konstantina Meletie, Georgia Avraam)

Tennis (1 medal):

  • Bronze medal: Andreas Timini in the Men’s Singles
