Cyprus Political Team meets today to discuss EU and UN diplomacy

Menelaos Menelaou leads Cyprus Team in first strategic session since April

Newsroom

The Cyprus Political Team will hold its first meeting at noon Wednesday since the group's composition was announced last April. The meeting, organized by the Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelaou, comes in the wake of Cyprus's agreement to the participation of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in the informal European Union Foreign Ministers' meeting on August 29.

This meeting also precedes the United Nations General Assembly set for September. Menelaou is expected to brief the 12-member team on the ongoing processes, though no concrete developments are anticipated at this time. He will also seek input and perspectives from team members.

As this is the committee's inaugural session, participants will primarily discuss ideas on how the team should operate to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.

The members of the Cyprus Political Team are Panayiotis Demetriou, Chris Triantafyllides, Giorgos Koukoumas, Giorgos Loukaides, Christiana Erotokritou, Chryssis Pantelides, Stavros Angelides, Giorgos Georgiou, Menelaos Kyprianou, Giorgos Poizis, Christos Iosifidis, and Kyriakos Tsimillis.
