A young delivery driver was killed in a road accident after his motorcycle collided with a vehicle on Thursday night in downtown Nicosia.

According to reports, Muhammad Sunny Hossen, a 26-year-old man from Bangladesh, was riding his motorcycle Thursday night in the downtown area of Nicosia when he collided with another vehicle driven by a 22-year-old local woman.
Hossen was rushed to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
Details about the incident were not immediately available but police said the incident took place around 9:50pm on Salaminos Avenue, in the eastern part of the divided capital.
Additional reports said there were two young passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision, one Greek Cypriot in the back seat and a front seat passenger from Syria who received medical treatment after the incident.
The driver was said to have been tested for drugs and alcohol but no preliminary information was included in the incident report.
Traffic officials have appealed to members of the public to come forward if they have information about the incident.
