A 62-year-old doctor was apprehended upon his arrival at Larnaca Airport under a court warrant for conducting medical procedures outside the GESY system. The arrest follows allegations that the doctor performed operations under another physician's name, despite his contract with GESY being terminated. The suspect is expected to appear before a court on Wednesday morning, according to a police source.
The arrest warrant against the doctor includes charges of conspiracy to commit a felony, theft, forgery, circulation of forged documents, and corruption offenses. Authorities suspect that the doctor acquired funds for his operations through illicit means.
Additionally, a second arrest warrant is pending for a relative of the detained individual, who reportedly held an account with GESY that the arrested doctor allegedly utilized. The whereabouts of the second person, who is currently abroad, remain unknown, as stated by the police source.
