A minor earthquake was recorded on Tuesday morning about 30 kilometres northwest of Nicosia, following similar seismic activity earlier in the week.

According to United States Geological Services, the earthquake’s magnitude was registered at 3.4 on the Richter scale with a depth of about 10km.

Witnesses, who gave feedback to an online earthquake monitoring site, said the seismic activity lasted between five and ten seconds with a rattling noise waking up house pets.

The tremor took place shortly after midnight. It came two days after seismic activity was felt in Limassol with twin minor earthquakes in Agios Athanasios. It was later reported that additional seisimc activity also took place in Limassol on Tuesday morning.
