The Paralimni–Deryneia Municipality is taking action to stop beachgoers from reserving sunbeds by leaving personal items on them.
In an official announcement, the municipality said many swimmers place towels or other belongings on sunbeds early in the morning, or even the night before, to reserve spots before renting the equipment. Some do this hours before arriving at the beach.
Municipal authorities warned that staff will enforce strict measures to end this practice.
Beach visitors are urged to rent their sunbed and umbrella sets immediately upon arrival and keep their rental receipt. If municipal staff find towels or personal items left to reserve equipment without a rental, those items will be removed.
The municipality stressed the importance of respecting public property and following staff instructions, as well as posted rules and regulations.
Visitors are also reminded that sunbed and umbrella rentals can be paid by bank card or contactless mobile payment. Officials encourage electronic payments for the convenience of both the public and municipal employees.
