The British government has scrapped plans for mandatory vaccine certificates in England.

I am pleased to say that we will not proceed with the plans for vaccination certificates

Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday outlining his new plan to boost the vaccination program in order to keep the virus under control in the coming crucial months.

UK’s Secretary of Health and Social Care Sajid Javid stated, "We have looked at it carefully and while we must keep it as a possible back-up measure, I am pleased to say that we will not proceed with the plans for vaccination certificates”.

The plan for mandatory vaccine certificates was due to come into effect around the end of September, but faced a huge backlash among the club owners and members of the Conservative Party.

The Scottish government, however, is making it mandatory to show a vaccination certificate in order to gain entry to clubs and mass events beginning in October.

In other news, the UK government may soon drop the PCR test requirement for fully vaccinated travellers returning to the UK. According to Health Secretary Javid, it will depend on the “public health advice”. More to come in the following days.
