Equinox rolls in, but summer’s still hogging the spotlight

Autumn arrives on paper, summer laughs in 35°C.

Newsroom

Seasonal low pressure is lurking about, but don’t worry, it’s the kind that prefers to hover dramatically rather than actually do much.

Today: Mostly clear skies, with the occasional diva-like high cloud sweeping through for attention. Winds are a bit indecisive. Northeast to southeast for most, but in the west and southwest, they’re flirting with southwest to northwest. All light to moderate, 3-4 Beaufort, meaning umbrellas can stay at home. Seas remain calm to slightly rough, aka “good for a stroll, not a surfboard.” Temperatures are strutting high: 35°C inland and on the southeastern coast, 32°C across the rest of the coast, and a breezy 26°C in the higher mountains (where smug hikers will remind us how “refreshing” it is).

Tonight: Mostly clear skies continue their reign, though a few low clouds may sneak into the west and east like uninvited guests at midnight. Winds turn northwest to northeast, gentle at 3 Beaufort, while the sea remains calm-to-slightly-rough, basically on snooze mode. Temperatures cool down nicely: 19°C inland, 21°C by the coast, and 15°C in the mountains (bring the sweater, you’ll look stylish).

Looking Ahead (Wednesday to Friday):
Mostly clear skies across the island, but by midday, local clouds will build up, especially over mountains, where they might squeeze out a few isolated showers. Think polite sprinkles, not a soaking.
No surprises with temperatures. They’ll keep hovering slightly above average, as if summer is stubbornly refusing to hand the baton to autumn.

In short: autumn may be on the calendar, but the weather’s still on summer hours.
