An explosion late last night struck the residence of an elderly couple in Paphos, damaging parts of the property but causing no reported injuries.
The blast occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the home of a 74-year-old man and his 75-year-old partner. Police officers who arrived at the scene found that the detonation had taken place in the yard, shattering windows of the house.
Follow-up examinations conducted today determined that the device responsible was a defensive military hand grenade.
Investigators collected various items from the scene, which will undergo forensic analysis as part of the case.
Authorities from the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department are continuing their inquiries into the incident.
