Authorities investigate LPG loss as possible cause

A powerful explosion rocked a three-story house in the Makedonitissa area of Nicosia on Tuesday night (20/2), prompting a response from police authorities. According to Andreas Kettis, the Press Spokesman of the Fire Service, two fire trucks rushed to the scene to address extensive damage, including masonry collapses on the ground floor, which houses a total of six studios—four on the ground floor and two in the courtyard.

The blast resulted in injuries, with one person taken to a private hospital and another in a panic state receiving First Aid. The injured individual, identified as a 20-year-old female, is currently under medical care.

The Fire Department, spearheading the investigation, suspects a potential loss of LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) as the cause of the explosion. The incident caused disruptions for nearby residents.

The authorities are actively assessing the situation, with ongoing investigations to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the explosion.
