Temperatures continue to soar as more yellow warnings for inland go into effect

A warm front continues to affect areas over Cyprus on Thursday, with mostly clear skies but also high clouds throughout the day and another yellow warning.

A yellow alert was scheduled to go into effect from 11am through 4pm, with officials citing 40-degree weather inland. A similar warning was issued a day earlier as afternoon high temperatures soared into the low 40’s.

Thursday maximums are expected to reach 41° Celsius inland, around 35 in the eastern and southern parts of the island, 30 in all other coastal regions, while it will be 31 up in the mountains.

Moderate dust levels are expected to clear out by Friday but may reappear on Sunday

Evening skies will be mostly clear with high clouds on and off. Lows will register 24 degrees inland as well as in the south and east, around 22 in the north and out west, while it will be 20 degrees up in the mountains.

Moderate levels of dust in the atmosphere are expected to clear out by Friday, with weather officials warning similar levels of dust may reappear on Sunday.

Clear skies and passing high clouds are expected on the weekend, with temperatures dropping slightly and more noticeably inland as well as on the mountains. Maximum weekend highs all over the island are expected to remain above normal averages for this time of the year.
