Another yellow warning for interior in the afternoon, still cooler along the coast

A yellow warning for the afternoon continues to be in effect on Saturday, as soaring temperatures continue inland.

UPDATE: Yellow warning for Sunday afternoon from 12 noon until 5pm, as extreme highs could reach 41 degrees inland. 

Weather officials have issued a yellow warning for Saturday afternoon, effective from 12 noon until 4pm, citing “extreme high temperature” expected to rise to around 40° degrees Celsius inland.

Temperatures are trending upwards through Monday, while Tuesday levels will drop slightly but still remain above normal averages

A low pressure system and a relatively warm front continue to affect the area, with mostly clear skies on Saturday expected to last through Monday, while Tuesday skies are expected to be partly cloudy around midday.

Saturday highs are expected to reach 40° degrees Celsius inland, 32 on the west coast as well as in the mountains, while it will be 35 in all other coastal regions.

Evening weather is expected to remain mostly clear but with chances of light fog and low clouds over local areas. Minimum lows will register up to 23 degrees in the interior, around 21 in all coastal regions, while it will be 18 in the mountains.

Temperatures are trending upwards in the interior and in the mountains through Monday, while Tuesday levels will drop slightly but remain above normal averages for this time of the year.
