The Veterinary Services are calling for strict observance of regulations as efforts continue to contain a livestock virus outbreak, stressing that the situation demands accountability from everyone involved.
In their announcement, officials describe the seriousness of the circumstances. “These are difficult times, and for this reason responsibility, honesty, and full compliance are required from everyone,” they state, warning that unacceptable actions could jeopardize the entire livestock sector.
Over the past several weeks, the Veterinary Services have been working alongside 15 other state departments in a coordinated effort to limit the spread of the virus and restore normal conditions as quickly as possible. According to the statement, most livestock farmers have responded responsibly, showing transparency and a clear willingness to protect both the industry and the country’s animal population.
However, authorities note that a small number of cases continue to go against this collective effort.
They refer specifically to an incident reported today in Livadia. “Today, an incident in Livadia has come to light, where a livestock farmer obstructed the veterinary services, thus contributing to the spread of the virus. While the facility had 30 animals, more than 109 were found there, a fact that is under investigation.”
The Veterinary Services stress that all actions being taken are within the legal framework and are aimed solely at eliminating the virus. At the same time, they report encountering behavior outside the law, including threats, obstruction of inspections, concealment of animals, and unauthorized movement of livestock. Full compliance, they stress, is essential to protect the sector as a whole.
Reinforcing their message, they state: “These are difficult times, and for this reason responsibility, honesty, and full compliance are required from everyone. The Veterinary Services remain at the side of livestock farmers and work tirelessly so that the crisis can be overcome. Everyone’s cooperation is essential and necessary for normality to return as soon as possible.”
The statement concludes with thanks to all supporting services, particularly the Police, the National Guard, the Game Service, and the Forestry Department, which continue to operate under difficult conditions to help restore normality as soon as possible.
