A fire erupted on the roof of a University of Cyprus building in Aglantzia on Friday, prompting the evacuation of classrooms.
According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the alarm was raised at 12:52 p.m., and three fire trucks from Nicosia stations were dispatched to the scene. The blaze involved insulation materials on the building’s roof.
Workers already on site for roof insulation managed to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived, Kettis said. Students and faculty cooperated in evacuating the affected classrooms as a precaution.
Authorities said the fire was linked to the ongoing construction work on the roof.
