Press Release
Professor Kostas Gouliamos, former Rector of the European University Cyprus, has been invited by the Greek Teachers’ Federation (DOE) to participate as a speaker at a scientific two-day conference titled “Artificial Intelligence as an Educational and Social Challenge: Critiques, Approaches, Expectations and Practices”.
The event will take place on 9–10 May 2026, at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (MANX Hall), bringing together academics, researchers, and education professionals.
Distinguished scholars from universities in Greece and France will contribute to a constructive dialogue on current developments in artificial intelligence and its impact on education and society. The presentations will cover a wide range of topics, including the risks associated with its exploitation and/or militarization, its potential applications in teaching and research, the ethical implications of its use, as well as the challenges it poses for educators and students.
Professor Gouliamos’ participation forms part of his ongoing academic activity and cultural contribution to the discourse on artificial intelligence. His critical approach and dialectical materialist analysis, titled “Artificial Intelligence and Algorithmic Education in the Era of Digital Accumulation,” are expected to enrich discussions with thought-provoking ideas and insights.
