The Embassy of Poland is pleased to announce a special screening of the acclaimed Polish feature film Jack Strong, to be held on the 17th of September at the Pantheon Theatre in Nicosia, at 20:30.
Directed by Władysław Pasikowski, Jack Strong tells the remarkable true story of Colonel Ryszard Kukliński, whose actions during the Cold War continue to inspire discussion on courage, responsibility, and the pursuit of freedom. The film offers an engaging portrayal of one of the most significant and debated episodes in modern European history.
About the Film
Released in 2014, Jack Strong is a historical thriller inspired by real events. The film follows Colonel Ryszard Kukliński, a senior officer in the Polish People’s Army who secretly cooperated with the United States during the Cold War. It explores the moral dilemmas, personal sacrifices, and geopolitical tensions surrounding his extraordinary mission, offering a compelling perspective on a pivotal period in European history.
The screening is part of the ‘Europe in Cinema’ series organised by the European Union National Institutes for Culture in Cyprus (EUNIC) in collaboration with the Friends of Cinema Society and support from the European Commission Representation.
The movie will be screened in original language version, with English subtitles. The admission is free.
