The US Embassy in Nicosia has publicly thanked outgoing Ambassador Julie S. Davis as she wraps up her diplomatic assignment in Cyprus, describing her tenure as a period when relations between the two countries reached new levels.

In a farewell message shared on social media, the embassy congratulated Davis on the completion of her tour, saying the US-Cyprus partnership had grown stronger through her leadership and cooperation with institutions and organizations across the island. The post included the phrase “fair winds and following seas,” often used as a send-off message.

The embassy tagged several Cypriot government bodies and business organizations, including the office of President Nikos Christodoulides, the Cyprus foreign and defence ministries, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce.

The post also drew praise from members of the public. One commenter described Davis as “one of the best” US ambassadors to serve in Cyprus, crediting her with helping strengthen ties between Washington and Nicosia and promoting Cyprus as an important American partner in the region.

Davis has served as the United States ambassador to Cyprus since 2023 and remains accredited to the Republic of Cyprus while temporarily assigned to Kyiv as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Ukraine.

During her diplomatic career, Davis has held several senior foreign policy and NATO-related positions, including Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Europe and the European Union, Deputy Permanent Representative to NATO, and Special Envoy for Belarus. She has also served in Georgia, Ukraine and Russia, and worked on the National Security Council and within the State Department’s executive offices.

A career member of the Senior Foreign Service, Davis has received multiple honors including a Presidential Rank Award. She studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Princeton University and speaks both Russian and French.

Earlier this week, Davis met President Christodoulides at the Presidential Palace for a final farewell meeting before her departure from Cyprus. During remarks after the meeting, she spoke positively about the growth in cooperation between the two countries in areas such as security, diplomacy, business and people-to-people relations over the past two years.
