The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed deep shock at the death of Minas Hadjimichael, who succumbed to injuries sustained in a car accident in Limassol on September 27, 2024.
In a post on social media, the Ministry conveyed the sorrow of its leadership and staff over the unexpected passing of Hadjimichael, a retired ambassador.
The statement read: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its profound shock at the untimely death of retired Ambassador Minas Hadjimichael (1956-2024).”
Hadjimichael joined the diplomatic service in 1984 and held several key positions, including Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2008 to 2012, and Ambassador to France from 2002 to 2007, Germany from 2012 to 2017, and Italy from 2019 to 2021. He also served as Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2018 to 2019.
The Ministry extended its heartfelt condolences to his family, stating, “May his memory be eternal.”
